The LG Optimus L9 is the new flagship handset
in LG's "L-Style" range of Android phones that are
designed to look expensive, but aren't.
This is an attractive but somewhat generic looking
device on the surface with a large 4.7" display of unknown
resolution. Inside is a dual core 1GHz processor with 1GB of RAM
and 4GB of flash memory (presumably there is also a microSD slot
although this isn't stated). On the back is a 5 megapixel camera
plus a 0.3 megapixel one on the front. Inside is a large 2150 mAh
battery, and the Optimus L9 runs Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich".
Because this is an Android smartphone then it has
GPS, 3.5G support, WiFi and Bluetooth. LG have added some software
enhancements including a translation application that uses optical
character recognition (OCR) technology to scan and translate printed
documents plus a few other enhancements besides that.
This is a pretty high-end device, although other
L-Style devices have not been very expensive, so we expect to see
the Optimus L9 being quite an affordable option for those looking
for a powerful smartphone.
LG haven't said when the Optimus L7 will be available
or how much it will cost, but our guess is that we will see
it during Q4 2012 for around €400 at launch.
