March 2011 Roundup |

|
31st March 2011 TabletsIt seems like an age ago now, but perhaps the biggest launch of the month was the Apple iPad 2, which is much thinner and faster than the original iPad and again shows that Apple is the manufacturer to beat. Samsung's response was to slim down the Galaxy Tab 10.1 announced last month, and a new version was launched alongside the more compact Galaxy Tab 8.9.
Android smartphonesThe Samsung Galaxy Pro is a BlackBerry-style Android smartphone, in a market with not much competition but possibly not much demand either. Launching in the US, the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G revives the old Sidekick line with an impressively powerful slider device. Another US launch is the high-end 3D capable HTC EVO 3D which we hope to see a European version of soon.
Other devicesNokia may be struggling in the high-end market, but the Nokia X1-00 is an impressive and very cheap music phone that promises to sell in huge numbers. The Samsung Corby II is an upgrade to Samsung's very popular touchscreen feature phone. Also very popular in some markets, the dual-SIM Samsung DUOS line is significantly enhanced with the Samsung B7722 touchscreen phone.
