June saw some weird and wonderful smartphones from a number of manufacturers.

Samsung

A high-end camera with an Android tablet in the back, the Samsung Galaxy NX features interchangeable lenses and a 20.3 effective megapixel sensor, but it wasn't the only device of its type as Samsung also announced the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, a compact digital camera with a fully-featured smartphone in it.

The popular Ace range gets a useful update with the Samsung Galaxy Ace 3, and the high-end S4 can now work under water with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active.

The Galaxy Tab range is also refreshed by the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch and the potentially more desirable (and smaller) Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch.

Sony

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra is really, really big and really, really powerful. On the other hand - perhaps literally - the Sony Smartwatch 2 carries many of your Android smartphone functions across to your wrist. The Sony Xperia M is a substantially more mainstream device with a dual-SIM option.

HTC

The HTC Butterfly has been launched quietly in a few markets worldwide, and has since been followed up by the quite awesome HTC Butterfly S which may or may not be coming to a market near you. A lot more downmarket than this is the HTC Desire 200 which might appeal if you are on a very tight budget.

Huawei

Billed as the world's thinnest smartphone, the Huawei Ascend P6 has some good features but perhaps miscalculates what consumers are interested in.
